How to Draw A Realistic Vector Light Bulb From Scratch

Below is the final image we will be working towards.

Introduction

First, there are a lot of different bulbs out there. A client recently requested a traditional one and instead of using reference images, I took a real light bulb and took some time watching how the glass parts bend the light and how highlights and shadows are formed. So, get a reference image or better yet, grab a real bulb and let's start drawing. First, you have to get a grip of the elements that make the bulb, because we're going to recreate all of them.

Step 1

Let's begin by drawing the glass body first. Create a new document of your choice. I renamed my Layer 1 to "Glass Body." I suggest you name it the same, so it will be easy to follow the rest of the steps and this will help you with the final alignment of all the layers later.

Drag a vertical guide onto the artboard. Create a perfect circle (while holding Shift), and center it to the guide. Select both the right and bottom anchor point and delete them, thus leaving only the top-left part of the circle present.

Step 2

Grab your Pen Tool and using Bezier curves, draw the rest of the left side of the glass body. Duplicate the completed shape and merge them together. We have made the glass body. Let's move on to the screw thread contact.

Step 3

A light bulb is not perfect. This is good for us, because the left and right side of the thread contact don't have to match at all. Ready the Pen Tool and start drawing. When we have completed this part we can move on and do a quick drawing of the electrical foot contact at the very bottom.

Those two shapes are pretty easy and somewhat creative shapes, so you shouldn't have any problems. See how my shapes are overlapping, that doesn't matter at this point.

Step 4

Again with the Pen Tool and Bezier curves, draw a shape that represents the actual screw part. When finished, copy and paste it two more times as shown below.

This is the basic outline of outer bulb shapes, but we are missing something, right. Yep, the glass mount, the support wires and the tungsten filament. I found those to be the real challenge of the bulb, so let's leave them for last.

Step 5

Let's move some elements to new layers. Create a new layer and call it "Metallic Body." Move it above our "Glass Body" layer. Select the thread contact, the three screw elements and the foot contact and move them to the "Metallic Body" layer.

Let's start painting the elements from bottom to top. Fill the electrical foot contact shape with a radial gradient. Set the colors, locations and gradient sliders as shown in the image below. Apply Inner glow as well and remove the stroke.

Step 6

Let's move on to the thread contact. Repeat the above actions, by applying a Radial Gradient and Inner Glow with the settings shown. Also, remove the stroke.

Step 7

Moving on to the actual screw elements. Apply the settings shown below on all three of them. Remove the stroke. We are basically applying the same radial gradient we did with the thread contact, but we are changing the sliders' positions slightly.

Step 8

Moving to the glass body. You can lock the "Metallic Body" layer and continue working on the glass one. Remove the stroke and give it a fill color of K=3. We want very light gray that will separate the bulb from the white background. With the shape still selected, give it an Inner Glow and use the settings and color shown below.

Step 9

So far, so good. Now comes the hard part - the glass mount. Your task here will be easy or hard, depending on the light bulb you've chosen. I didn't really have a choice, since the client wanted a traditional bulb. Create a new layer and call it "Glass Mount."

I'm going to hide the rest of the layers to better focus on the mount. I created the shape and filled it with K=10 (Step 9.1). On top, I made an additional shape and gave it a radial gradient going from K=10 at 0%, K=20 at 64%, K=25 at 80% and K=10 at 100% (Step 9.2.) I used the Pen Tool and Bezier curves to draw the support wires with 1 pt stroke color of K=90 (Step 9.3).

Step 10

Now, I moved to create four more shapes for the big support wires.

I drew the two wires and noticed that in an actual bulb they are folded at the end. The left one is folded back and the right is folded in front. I drew the folded shapes and sent one at the back and the other in front. Then I filled the wires with K=90, and the folded shapes with K=95. No stroke (Step 10.1).

Moving on to the tungsten filament. What I did was pretty simple. I Pen Tooled a line between the big wires and applied Effect > Distort and Transform > Zig Zag. I entered: 1% for the Relative size, Ridges per Segment at 8, Points at Smooth and finally K=90 stroke color. The effect gave nice curved line, just like the real thing.

Additionally, I created the bottom element of the glass mount, along with two ellipses for the central part. I selected both ellipses and in the Pathfinder palette I chose Minus Front to get rid of the front one, this creating a hole in the big ellipse. After that, you guessed it, radial gradient from K=70, K=90, K=80, at respectively 0, 63 and 100% (Step 10.2).

Step 11

I noticed that the big support wires go inside the glass mount, and the glass acts like a magnifying glass and the wires in there look magnified.

Let's draw that. I made four shapes. Notice that they go all the way down and at places it looks like they are separated, that’s why I made four and not two (Step 11.1).

The glass mount is complete, but look at it - it's flat. We have to make some highlights and play with the opacity and blending modes to create the illusion of 3D. Let's do that!

For the top glass shape I made two highlights. The left one I filled with a white to black gradient, and no stroke. I did the same with the right one, this time with black to white gradient fill. I set both shapes to Screen blending mode. Next I applied a Gaussian Blur of 2 pixels to both shapes and the glass started to appear (Step 11.2).

Step 12

Let's go on and create more highlights. Simply draw and repeat the same steps until you're satisfied. Experiment with both shapes and with smaller and larger blur radius, but don't forget always to use a white to black gradient set to Screen. This is what gives the actual glass look.

We have to add one final detail to the glass mount - a big reflection going all the way from top to bottom. I made a shape following the curves of the mount, gave it a white to black radial gradient, set it to Screen and gave it big 7-pixel blur. Additionally, I adjusted the gradient sliders to punch it up a bit (Step 12.1).

This is the finished glass mount. Be careful with the object layering. My glass mount is on one Illustrator layer, but the object layering inside the layer is critical. Keep the basic shapes in the back and bring forward the highlights and glows. This will add more to the glass effect (Step 12.2).

Step 13

Group all the stuff in the "Glass Mount" layer and switch on the other layers. Move the Glass Mount to the center of the bulb using our vertical guide we created in the beginning. Rearrange the layers order as follows (from top to bottom): "Metallic Body," "Glass Mount," and then Glass Body."

Step 14

The last step in the tutorial is to add highlights to the bulb itself. I put them on a new layer named "Reflections," then moved it on top of all the others.

Next, I created a series of shapes along the right part of the bulb, the bottom and the top left part, where I placed some ellipses. I scaled some of them down and rotated them accordingly. I outlined them in blue for better illustration. At the end I colored all the reflections in white and added Gaussian Blur of 8 pixels to each one.

Step 15

This step is optional. For those of you interested in making the bulb turned on, create a new layer over the "Glass Mount" and below the "Metallic Body" layers.

Create a circle, smaller than the glass body. I gave it a yellow-to-white radial gradient at -180 degrees and set it to Multiply Blending Mode.

Conclusion

The final print came out great. At the end my client was really happy and so was I. I hope you enjoyed creating this realistic vector light bulb!

Amazing Photoshop light effect in 10 Steps

Step 1

Create a new document, apply a Layer Style on the background layer. Add a Gradient Overlay and a Pattern Overlay.

Step 2

Here I've used an icon I found on a cool site, but you can use whatever you want.

Step 3

Select the Ellipse Tool (U) and create a shape like I did. After that apply a Gaussian Blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) with radius of 30px.

Step 4

Create a new Folder name it “Light Effects”. Change its blend mode to Color Dodge, and move the ellipse you created to this folder.

Step 5

In order to create the sparks we will use the amazing brush engine. Add a new layer, inside the “Light Effects” layer, set white for the color and follow the images below.

Step 6

Using the Layer Styles add a Outer Glow to the sparks

Step 7

Lets add some smoke. Create a new Layer, call it “Smoke”. Change its blend mode to Color Dodge and select the Lasso Tool. Set 40px for Feather and create a selection like I did below. After that make sure that the foreground is white and the background is black and apply a Filter>Render>Clouds. Tip: Continue applying the filter until you get the best clouds.

Step 8

Add some text and using the Layer Styles again lets create a nice effect.

Step 9

Place your logo and you can even add more effects like I did on the Magic Lighting Effect, but then you will have to follow that tutorial ;).

Conclusion

I have to say, if you know a bit of Layer Styles and the Brush engine in Photoshop you will be able to create amazing effects. It will depend exclusively on your imagination and playing with the tool. Sometimes just changing a some settings and you get a totally different effect.

Sometimes we may download unnecessary zip files, because - we do not know the contents of the zip.

If we want to know what is inside the compressed file, we can use this firefox add-on. It is named as ArchView. After installing this add-on, we need to restart the firefox for the first time. Final Image Preview

Step 1

Open up a new document and draw a rectangle with the Rectangle Tool (M). Leave the default settings of a white fill and a black stroke.

Step 2

Go to Effect > Distort & Envelope > Roughen and choose the settings you see below. This will be the frame work for our old paper.

Step 3

Fill the shapes with black, set the stroke to none and apply an Outer Glow of 100% Opacity and a Blur of 7pt. Set the Mode to Normal (Effect > Stylize > Outer Glow).

Step 4

Create a duplicate of the black shape on top (Command + C + F). Choose a light brown or beige color and fill the shape and set the stroke to 1pt with the same color. Then change the Outer Glow settings via the Appearance Palette and set the Blur to 2pt.

Step 5

Duplicate the shape again on top (Command + C + F) and remove the Outer Glow settings. Then go to Window > Swatch Libraries > Patterns > Basic Graphics > Basic Graphic_Textures. Choose Stipple Fine and fill the shape. This will replace the beige color. Set the Layer Mode to Color Dodge, Opacity 79%. Then duplicate the shape again and change the Layer Mode to Overlay and set the Opacity to 10%. Replace the fill with Burlap from the texture palette. This will give the paper a slight gritty look.

Step 6

Next, make again a duplicate on top and fill it with a linear gray, black, gray, to black gradient. Set the Angle to -50. Then change the Layer Mode to Overlay, 18% Opacity and add an outer Glow, 100% Opacity, normal mode and a Blur of 5pt. Duplicate the shape again on top, fill it with a radial gray to black gradient with the highlight towards the bottom right and set the Layer Mode to Overlay, 33%. Leave the Outer Glow Effect like it is.

Step 7

Duplicate the shape again, remove the Outer Glow and fill it with white. Then set the Layer Mode to Soft Light , Opacity 45%. Make another duplicate, fill it with 80% black and set the stroke to 3pt, 100% black. Set the Layer Mode to Overlay, 45% Opacity. This will bring out a burned effect.

Step 8

Voila, the old paper look. We are almost there, we just need to add some fine touches.

Step 9

We will create a burned corner look for our paper. Create a circle (L) and fill it with a gray to black radial gradient. Set the gradient highlight towards the top left.

Step 10

Go to Effect > Distort & Envelop > Roughen and apply the settings you see below.

Step 11

Place the shape on top of the paper layer and set the Layer Mode to Overlay at 100%.

Step 12

Now since the shape is still too harsh and shows up on the background, we need to apply an Opacity Mask. We have to do one important step first. Since we want the shape to be burned into the paper right to the edge, we will copy the original paper shape. Just press Command + C. Then apply an Opacity Mask via the Transparency Palette. Once you have activated the mask, paste the shape onto the artboard by pressing Command + V. Cut away a good portion of it and just keep a corner piece that will fit. Then apply a black to white radial gradient. Voila, this way we can hide the burned shape and blend it better into the paper.

Step 13

Repeat Step 12 for the other corners. I only added two more.

Step 14

Let's move on to the paper treatments. Create a rectangle and apply a Round Corner effect to it. Then duplicate the rectangle and offset it. Select both and apply the Divide option in the Pathfinder Palette.

Step 15

Delete the shapes with the Direct Selection Tool (A) until you have a shape like you see in the image below. Then select both end path points on the right and Average them both on the Axis. Repeat the same with the bottom two.

Step 16

Next, open up the Flowers Palette (Symbol Library) and drag an instance of a flower of your choice onto the artboard. Select it and expand its appearance.

Step 17

Make a copy of the line shape and the flower and select both and apply the Divide option from the Pathfinder Palette.

Step 18

Delete all the flower parts. Left is the cut away line shape. This might look like an unimportant step, but it will help a lot (see next step).

Step 19

Select the vertical shape and apply the Envelop Distort option Flag to it. Choose Vertical at 100%. Repeat the same with the horizontal one and choose Horizontal. Then select the curved lines and the flower and set the Layer Mode to Overlay.

Step 20

Let's move on to the feather. I outlined the shapes we need below. You can go more into detail if you'd like. Create an ellipse (L), remove the curves and add extra path points to make it look like a simple feather. For the plume part, create a circle, apply the Roughen effect and scale it if you see fit. Then apply a Pucker effect. Expand the shape. Then make a copy and add it to the feather shape via the Pathfinder Palette. I chose some beige, white, and gray gradient for coloring.

Step 21

Move the feather shape and the shaft plus the plume part and arrange them over the paper layer. I made the gradient slightly darker as well.

Step 22

Duplicate the feather shape on top and fill it with another darker gradient. Move it slightly to the bottom left. Don't forget to place the extra copy of the plume part on top and fill it with a light radial gradient.

Step 23

Trace along the tip of the shaft and fill it with black. Set the Layer Mode to Soft Light. Then duplicate the shape on top. This will make it look darker. You could also try Overlay as a setting.

Step 24

To create a sense of depth, duplicate the feather shape with its shaft and choose Add to Shape Area in the Pathfinder Palette. Place the shape underneath the feather and distort it slightly. Set the Layer Mode to Normal and the Opacity to 60%. Then apply a Feather effect of 93pt.

Step 25

Now you are ready to add some text. Outline the text and set the Layer Mode to Soft Light or Overlay depending on how you would like it to look. Remember that a black color in Soft Light or Overlay mode will kind of burn itself into the shapes below.

Conclusion

I added a starburst and some ink drops. Last but not least, place a darker background and you're good to go. Happy creating!

Creating a Coffee Cup with Inkscape

Inkscape is an open source alternative to Adobe Illustrator and other programs for creating vector graphics. In this first Inkscape tutorial for VECTORTUTS, we'll create a beautiful coffee cup and show off some of Inkscape's features. We'll mostly be drawing shapes and using the Gradient Tool to accomplish the desired effect. If you're familiar with Illustrator or a similar program, you should be able to follow along relatively easily.

Final Image Preview

Before we get started, let's take a look at the image we'll be creating. Below is the completed illustration to see what you're working toward. If you would like to download Inkscape, go to inkscape.org. If this is your first time using Inkscape, I recommend that you complete a few of the tutorials that come bundled with Inkscape first to get the hang of how the program works (available from the Help menu).

Step 1

Begin by opening up a new document in Inkscape. Let's start by making the saucer that the coffee cup rests on. The saucer will be comprised of five different ellipses, so get ready to draw. Select the Circle/Ellipse tool (F5) from the Toolbox. Then draw an ellipse about the proportions of the one in the picture below.

Now we need to change the fill and stroke (outline) colors, so select your ellipse and open up the Fill and Stroke dialog window by going to Object > Fill and Stroke (Ctrl + Shift + F). On the Stroke paint tab click the "X" button to eliminate the outline on this shape.

Step 2

Now we want to fill the ellipse with a radial gradient. We'll be doing quite a few radial and linear gradients in this tutorial, so pay close attention if you've never done this in Inkscape before. On the Fill tab (still in the Fill and Stroke window), click the Radial Gradient button. Inkscape automatically fills your shape with a gradient - normally fading to transparent by default.

We want a gradient with two shades of gray, so click the Edit button underneath the gradient. Now you can edit the gradient's Color Stops and their Transparency. Set the first Stop to a light shade of gray (ddddddff). Set the second Stop to a darker shade of gray (b2b2b2ff). Make sure the Transparency for both colors is set to Opaque (no transparency).

Step 3

The next thing you need to do is adjust the size and center of the gradient relative to your ellipse. Drag the gradient handles on the ellipse to match the picture below. Note: If the gradient handles are not visible, simply click the Create and Edit Gradients button from the Toolbox (Ctrl + F1). Now you've completed one ellipse and you know how to create and edit gradients. The following steps won't be quite as detailed.

Step 4

The other ellipses in the saucer aren't quite as difficult to make. The next ellipse will form the white lip around the plate. The easiest way to make this is to duplicate the ellipse you just made by going to Edit > Duplicate (Ctrl + D). Then fill it with a very light gray color (f2f2f2ff) from the Fill and Stroke window. Then lower it just a few pixels lower than your first ellipse, and place it behind the first ellipse by going to Object > Lower.

Note: Press F1 (or hit the Select and Transform Objects button from the Toolbox) to move objects around with the mouse or arrow keys in Inkscape. It's hard to see the light gray ellipse, so I put a dark background behind it to make it easier to see in the screenshot below.

Step 5

Now for the dark gray base of the saucer. Once again, duplicate one of your existing ellipses. Now fill it with another radial gradient with two very dark shades of gray (2b2b2bff and 666666ff). Then move the center of the gradient down to the bottom of the ellipse. The base of the plate doesn't need to be quite as wide as the rest of the plate. Press F1 and push the left and right sides of the ellipse in a little bit to "squish" it some.

Note that if you hold down Shift while dragging one of the edges, you can move both sides equally at once. Also, stretch the bottom of the ellipse down just a little bit to get the curve of the bottom of the saucer just right.

Move the whole ellipse down a few pixels and press the Page Down button a few times to place the ellipse below the other two. You should end up with something that looks like the image below. Note the proportions of the bottom ellipse (selected) compared to the other two. The saucer is starting to take shape!

Step 6

Now we need to create the center of the plate. Draw a smaller ellipse as shown in the image below (or select the topmost ellipse and scale it down). Open up the Fill and Stroke dialog (Ctrl + Shift + F). Then fill it with a flat gray color (979797). Drag the Alpha slider below the color wheel to 100.

Give it a stroke color of b7b7b7 (full opacity). On the Stroke style tab set the width to match the picture below. The actual size of the stroke will vary depending on how big you drew your ellipses. For me, it was 3px, but you may end up with something different.

Step 7

The plate is almost finished now. The last step is to add a blurry drop-shadow. Duplicate the bottom-most ellipse (the dark gray base). Then blur it 10% (from the bottom of the Fill and Stroke window). Place it below all the other objects.

You now have a finished saucer! You may choose to group the five ellipses to make them easier to select later on. Just highlight them all and press Ctrl+G. Now, on to the coffee cup itself!

Step 8

We'll begin by drawing two shapes with the Bezier Curves tool (Shift + F6). Make one for the face of the coffee cup and one to form the outer rim of the cup. These shapes need to match up in width and the amount of curve. I recommend that you turn on the grid to help you draw these lines (Shift + #). Also note, Click to create a point, click and drag to create a curve.

I actually drew these shapes in place on top of each other, but I separated them in this screenshot to show how I drew the shapes and their curves. Notice that both shapes and their curve lengths are 20 units wide. Also, notice how the bottom of the rim matches the top of the cup face; They are both 2 units deep. For guidance, the numbers in blue show the order in which I created the points/curves.

Step 9

With the grid still on, place the rim directly on top of the cup face. Eliminate the stroke from both shapes. Fill the rim shape (that looks like an ellipse) with a solid color gray (e6e6e6ff). Fill the cup face with a radial gradient that goes from ecececff at the center to bdbdbdff. Then place the center of the gradient near the top of the cup shape, as shown below.

Step 10

Duplicate the rim shape and scale it in a little bit to form the width of the rim. Give this shape a thin gray stroke (d6d6d6ff) and a radial gradient from ecececff to bdbdbdff. Then drag the gradient handles to match the picture below.

Step 11

The next step is to create the coffee inside the cup. We obviously want to create a shape that gives the appearance of the coffee being inside the rim. To do that we'll have to create an ellipse for the coffee and intersect it with the inner rim.

Here's how to do it. Create an ellipse like the brown one in the picture below. Then set it on top of the rim. Then, duplicate the ellipse that makes up the inner portion of the rim. Then select both the duplicated ellipse and the one you just drew. Now go to the menu and choose Path > Intersection (Ctrl + *).

You should end up with a shape that looks like coffee in a cup. Now you can fill it with a radial gradient using any two (or more) shades of brown.

Step 12

Creating the handle for the coffee cup is a cinch. Use the Bezier tool to make a shape similar to the handle shown below. Give it a thin light gray stroke and fill it with a linear gradient from bottom left to top right using two shades of gray (bdbdbdff and ecececff). Now place it behind the cup.

Step 13

To give our cup some personality, we're going to add some blue stripes around it. The way to do it is a little trickier than meets the eye. You can't simply draw a line, because the end of the line would never match up with the edge of the cup, as shown below.

Step 14

So here's the method I came up with that worked quite well. Create an ellipse with about the same proportions as the coffee cup rim. Then fill it with any color (no stroke). Now duplicate that ellipse, place it below the first one, and pull the bottom drag handle down a little bit. Then push the sides in some too. I colored my ellipses two different colors so you can see how this should look.

Step 15

Select both ellipses and choose Path > Difference (Ctrl + Minus Sign) from the menu. Presto! You now have a beautiful vanishing curve. Fill your new shape with whatever color you prefer. Duplicate it as many times as you want. Then place it on top of your coffee cup wherever you choose.

Let's create a reflection on the side of our cup. Draw a shape with the Bezier tool like the one in the screenshot below. Color it white and drag the alpha slider to about 90 so that it's transparent. Place it on top of the cup face and colored lines.

Now for some steam. Begin by drawing a small white ellipse. Make it semi-transparent and blur the edges of it significantly. Place it above your coffee. This will give the general impression of heat and steam.

Now let's create a wispy trail of steam. Create a shape with the Bezier tool like the one below. Color it a light brown or gold color, make it semi-transparent and blur it also. Play around with the Master Opacity and Blur settings until it looks just right.

Our coffee cup is finished! As with the saucer, you may find it handy to group all the shapes that comprise the cup.

Final Image

Let's place our finished cup on top of our saucer. Then add a small drop shadow underneath the cup. Simply draw a small black ellipse and blur it.

Make a 3D Vector Film Roll, Drawn In Perspective

In this tutorial, I'm going to share with you how to draw a realistic film roll, drawn in perspective. You should already be familiar with using the Pen Tool, Ellipses and Gradients. Let's begin!

Final Image Preview

Below is the final image we will be working towards.

Step 1

Create an ellipse, fill it with black and give it a stroke of 4 points with a gray color (K=50). Select the bottom anchor point of the ellipse with the Direct Selection Tool, copy and paste in front and delete the fill.

Use the half-ellipse shape to draw the rest of the cylinder, shown in the second image below. Give it a 4 pt stroke and color of dark gray (K=90). Now apply a linear gradient fill, as shown below. Move the bottom shape up until you form a cylinder. The colors of the gradient are various shades of gray (from left to right: K=70, K=50, K=90, K=90, K=50, and K=80).

Step 2

Next, create two more ellipses. For the first one use dark gray stroke color (K=90), and apply the same radial gradient, but this time set the angle at -10 degrees.

Make the second ellipse bigger, no stroke, the same radial gradient again, and set at -20 degrees. Move both ellipses up and align them in the proper order. Now we have the first part of the top of the film roll. The colors of the gradient are various shades of gray (from left to right: K=80, K=50, K=90, K=90, K=50, and K=90).

Step 3

Use the Pen and Ellipse Tools to create two identical crescent shapes. Rotate the bottom one to 180 degrees. Apply a radial gradient again to both of them, and give a stroke to the bottom one, again dark gray (K=90), this time 3 points. The colors of the gradient are various shades of gray (from left to right: K=80, K=90, K=50, and K=80).

Step 4

Send both shapes To Back and move them up, until they fit under the cylinder and the two ellipses, as shown below. One final detail to complete the top of the film roll - another ellipse with no fill, stroke of 4 pts, and a gray color (K=90). Adjust the ellipse with the Selection Tool by dragging each anchor point and match it with its counterpart of both crescent shapes below. Your final piece should look like the image below.

Step 5

Let's move on to the bottom part of the film roll. Ready your Pen Tool and draw a shape similar to the one shown in the image below. No stroke, radial gradient fill with gray colors (left to right: K=0, K=80, and K=10). Set the gradient to -2 degrees to give it some perspective. Send to back and move below the other shapes.

Step 6

Draw another crescent shape (or copy and tweak one of those previously created) and place it underneath the roll body. Apply a fill of dark gray (K=90) and no stroke.

Step 7

Now, we need to draw the elements where the film comes out. Select the Pen Tool and start drawing until you have something similar to the shape below. Apply q radial gradient with gray colors (left to right: K=40 and K=80) and no stroke.

Step 8

Continue with the second element. It has to be on top of the previous one. Again, no stroke and fill of dark gray (K=90).

Step 9

We are almost ready. The last thing we have to do is add some text. I used the standard Arial font. For the "35mm film" line I rotate the text at 90 degrees and applied a Shear transformation (Object > Transform > Shear). Set the angle at 25 degrees and for axis choose Vertical.

For the "Max 24" line, I repeated the shear, but entered 10. I applied it right after I used it on "35 mm" and since the tool is smart, it already sheared it to 25 degrees, so I applied 10 more to the total of 35 degrees. Repeat the same to "GT... 24 exp." with total shear of 45 degrees. For "800" I used the shear transform again, but this time I gave it negative vertical shear of about -5 to -10.

Conclusion

This wraps up this tutorial on creating a vector film roll drawn in perspective. Remember that all the shapes remain editable until the end and you can tweak and change strokes, colors and gradients until you're satisfied with the look of the illustration. You can always try different colors of the film roll body.
